This grant would serve to engage student learning of the Social Studies curriculum through the use of historical songs, while providing a much needed music curriculum for 4th and 5th grade students at Truckee Elementary.

To help students better understand the art of photography. They will learn traditional and digital photography. Student will be inspired by the introduction on how to take photographs of a variety of subjects from landscape to portrait to animal photography. Students will learn the history of the camera and photography

Students will be able to practice musical skills on Orff instruments with greater consistency because they won't have to wait so long between turns. Orff instruments provide a quality in-tune sound with easy technique to produce music that is highly beneficial for students.

By connecting an art project with our social studies standards, we hope to build interest in the curriculum and appreciation for a type of art: painting on silk.

Xylophones are barred percussion instruments. With these instruments, students are able to create music, learn to read music and apply it to the instrument. They can play familiar songs as well as new songs. This type of instrument also helps students with their gross motor skills.
