Implementation

Implementation Method:

1. Ed Hilton, our Technology and Information Services Director at TTUSD, will be contacted to purchase the 20 Chromebooks through Samsung.

2. Mr. Hilton and his Technology team will enroll the Chromebooks in Google Enterprise, so that the devised can be managed through Google remotely.

3. The technology team will put asset tags and covers on the devices

4. The devices will be given to the fourth grade team to use in their classrooms with the other Chromebooks already in use.

5. Teacher Collaboration time and electronic messaging will be utilized to make sure the devices are functioning and serving the intended objectives.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

"21st Century Kids" ties into our Professional Learning Community by embracing technology use in the classroom to meet objectives of the Tech Plan that correlate with Common Core State Standards (CCSS). More specifically, more technology in the classroom will assist teachers with fourth grade CCSS like the writing process.

Google Docs and Chromebooks will allow teachers to edit and comment on student work online from anywhere, and students can then log in to their accounts on the Chromebooks, read the edits and comments, and correct their work. Teachers can set up a Google Classroom where students would then turn in their work. Then the fourth grade team can share grades and student progress through their Google Accounts, Docs and Classrooms. This will streamline the editing and grading process greatly, and it is only one example of how teachers can utilize Google Docs to better assist their students.

Other funding sources
Measure A funds are not available because they are tied up in license costs for programs such as Core 5 Lexia, Istation, Reading A-Z, Renaissance Place and BrainPop Español. The Kings Beach Elementary Parent Teacher Organization funds are tied to classroom supplies, classroom libraries, Harvest of the Month, field trips and conferences.
Notes
We determined as a staff that we prefer Chromebooks over tablets for fourth grade due to their added ease and accessibility for research, writing reports, and collaborating with teachers and peers. The entire school will benefit from added Chromebooks, because all students will have access to them in fourth grade. Fourth Grade Teachers currently share 12 Chromebooks in their classes.
