Description

As a Kindergarten and First-grade teacher, I want to fill children's hands and minds with good-fit books and a variety of titles and genres. Stepping into the Kindergarten position just this year, I am fortunate to have many great books, but am interested in furthering the selection for the students in their first-grade year as we loop. Their interest goes beyond what I am currently able to offer, and I would like to purchase additional options for them.

Benefits of Program

As students continue to develop as readers, having a variety of texts for everyone is necessary. All students would benefit from additional book options to keep their interests and reading goals progressing.

Success of Program

Success would be defined as the frequency at which students read new titles. Nothing is better than a book in a child's hand, so any opportunity I might be able to provide that, I will do my best to make it happen.

Implementation

At the start of the school year, books would be made available to students in the classroom library. I would like to start the year piquing student reading interest right away, and fostering a love of reading.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

This is primarily for one classroom; however, if students in different grade levels are interested in particular titles, they are welcome to share.

Sustainability
These books would fill little minds and provide enjoyment for many years to come.
