The Glenshire Elementary School library is requesting funding to expand our literature circle book sets so students have access to engaging, high-quality texts that support collaborative reading and discussion. This request includes three tiers of books designed to support diverse interests and reading levels.
Tier 1: Future New Release Titles
Funds will be used to purchase future new release titiles that students are excited to read. Keeping the collection up to date increases motivation and encourages more students to participate in literature circles.
Tier 2: High Interest Informational Texts
This portion will support high interest informational texts written at higher reading levels that are concise and accessible. These titles include Accelerated Reader quizzes, encouraging students to challenge themselves while exploring such topics as science, history, and real-world discoveries.
Tier 3: Replacements for Books that are Damaged
Replacing worn copies of popular titles already in the library will allow us to create full literature circle sets. This ensures more students can read and discuss the same book at the same time.
Together, these purchases will strengthen reading engagement, support classroom instruction, and help students build confidence and enthusiasm as readers.
Funding these literature circle sets will place engaging, high quality books directly into students' hands, fostering meaningful peer discussions while strengthening reading comprehension, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading.
The success of this program will be measured through increased student engagement with reading and greater use of literature circle materials. Updated and expanded book sets will allow more students to participate in small group discussions and independent reading.
Success indicators will include increased circulation of the new titles, greater classroom use of literature circle sets, and higher participation in Accelerated Reader quizzes supported by the high interest informational texts. These outcomes will demonstrate stronger student interest in reading and improved access to engaging high-quality books.
Most of the books will be purchased and cataloged in the Spring of 2026. The book sets will be ready for check out in the Fall. Future new release titles will be purchased throughout the year as books become available.
This grant is for books that will be housed in the school library. All students and teachers will have access to the materials.
Our principal feels the EEF is the best choice for funding this project.
