Benefits of Program

Currently, when students want to record their conversations or presentations, they have to find a quiet corner of the classroom which is usually impossible. They venture out to the hallway, find a spot in the stairwell...and suddenly kids are unsupervised. This pack of two mics will solve that problem. Pairs can record right at their tables because the noise around them will not be recorded. The benefit of this is huge! We can do more recordings and projects knowing kids will be contained at their desks. Given our school and district goals around academic discourse, this tool aligns well with our efforts to help students engage in more academic discourse in the classroom. 

Success of Program

Michael Arington, a teacher technology specialist in the district, recommends this product. Other teachers in the district are using it with lots of success. He said I can probably borrow theirs, which is how I got the idea to write this grant. However, it would be nice to have our own here at NTS. 

Implementation

I would need 15-20 sets for my classroom. This would allow for each pair to have a set. I would use them in my English class, Gate class, and possibly for my leadership class to start a podcast or morning broadcast. The potential is exciting!

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

I can absolutely share this! We could keep the mics in a bag that can be shared across grade levels and disciplines. We would have some sort of sign-up/reserve in advance system. 

Sustainability
These mics will be used over many years and can be replaced as needed.
