Description

This grant requests funding for a user-friendly, high-quality audio-visual streaming and recording setup centered around the Mevo Start 3-Camera system. Currently, NTHS relies on a basic yet overly complex system for broadcasting/recording that deters staff from utilizing it. This new mobile kit - which includes three wireless Mevo cameras, tripods, lapel microphones, and storage - will allow staff and supervised students to easily stream parent meetings, school events, and even record classroom lessons or assignments with multi-camera professional quality, directly controlled from a smartphone or tablet.

I did consult with TTUSD tech team and they approved this method for use within our tech infrastructure.

Benefits of Program

This program benefits students in three distinct ways:

  1. Community Connection: By providing a reliable, high-quality stream for school events, performances, and informational meetings, we ensure that parents and community members who cannot attend in person (due to work, travel, or weather) remain engaged and connected to the student experience at NTHS. It is also more user-friendly, improving usability and access for less tech-savvy staff.
  2. Equitable Learning Access: Teachers can easily deploy the cameras to record complex science labs, guest speakers, or standard lessons if desired. This provides high-quality review materials for students who are absent, learning English as a second language, or simply need to re-watch a lesson to master the concepts.
  3. Direct Student Engagement: Students in leadership, media, or AV clubs can take ownership of running the tech for events, gaining hands-on, real-world experience in live-streaming, audio mixing, and video production.
Success of Program

The primary outcome will be a noticeable increase in the quantity and quality of recorded and live-streamed content at NTHS due to the removal of technical barriers.

Implementation

Upon receiving the funds in August/September 2026, the equipment will be purchased, unboxed, and properly labeled with NTHS identification. The equipment will be housed in protective carrying cases and stored securely in the library or main office. We will create a simple, one-page "quick start" guide for staff and hold a brief training session for interested teachers and student leaders. A standard checkout system will be used so we can track where the equipment is and ensure it is available when needed.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

This grant is fundamentally designed to be a shared, school-wide resource. Because the system is highly portable and user-friendly, any teacher across any subject area, club advisor, or administrator can check it out to meet their specific instructional or communication needs.

Sustainability
This one-time hardware purchase is highly sustainable. The Mevo cameras and audio equipment are durable, and there are no mandatory recurring software subscription fees required for basic streaming and recording to standard platforms (like YouTube or Google Drive). The included MicroSD cards provide ample, reusable physical storage. Because the equipment is robust, it will serve the school for years. In the unlikely event that a minor accessory (like a cable or tripod) breaks years down the road, it can easily be replaced using general school site funds.

Other funding sources

We have evaluated utilizing standard site technology funds. However, to preserve those limited tech funds for critical 1-to-1 student device repairs and core classroom hardware, we are submitting this to Excellence in Education. Because this project uniquely bridges classroom instruction, student hands-on technical experience, and broad parent/community engagement, it aligns perfectly with EEF's mission.
