Scholastic Let's Find Out and Science Spin are supplemental educational materials that use fun nonfiction with seasonal science and social studies themes to build literacy and knowledge. This grant would cover the subscription cost of Scholastic Let's Find Out and Science Spin weekly magazines for all of the TK/K students as well as digital resources for teachers and home access for families.
There are so many benefits to these resources for all students. English Learners in particular, benefit from the highly engaging, vocabulary rich content. The addition of academic conversation helps encourage listening and speaking as well.
The students love these resources. They are excited when it's time to use the online resources during ELD like the dance breaks, the videos and the games. They tell me when they access these resources at home. The fact that the students look forward to and learn so much from Scholastic Let's Find Out is a success!
We begin using these materials from the beginning of the school year and each week thereafter.
