Sensory Bin Filler and Kits at Glenshire Elementary

Sensory bins offer all of our young scholars a play-based learning approach that stimulates multiple senses. As children pour, scoop, and move objects with their hands and small hand tools, they activate multiple senses as kinesthetic learners. Sensory bins allow students an opportunity to engage in learning activities with a small group of peers. This allows students to improve their language development with speaking and listening skills. Sensory bins also improve students’ fine motor skills, independent play, and imaginative play. Sensory play also helps students focus on tasks and learning objectives. Sensory bins are an engaging classroom tool that can be integrated into both English Language Arts and math instruction. Children love to practice their skills through play-based learning with exciting sensory bins. Incorporating natural wood products will provide an extension of our Sierra Nevada environment in the classroom. This will benefit our ELL students as they develop their speaking and listening skills and specifically target prepositions as well. These sensory bins are calming and will benefit our students' self-regulation skills. Sensory bins are an instructional classroom tool that benefits all learners.
