Mystery Science/Mystery Doug is used weekly in my classroom to engage students in NGSS-aligned science lessons. Mystery Doug is a web-based program that releases new episodes each week for students to watch, listen to, discuss, and engage with classmates. I would love to take their learning deeper with Mystery Science Pack. These kits will provide the class with all the materials and instructions needed to perform our own science lessons in class. Each pack contains supplies for 30 students working together in groups and/or partners.
Students in our class will all benefit from the materials in these science packs. Each kit will allow students the opportunity to explore NGSS-aligned science lessons designed specifically for their age group.
Hands-on Learning Experiences provided the following benefits:
- Students will explore, retain, and experiment with scientific concepts
- Students will have fun while learning science
- Students will be successful, regardless of learning style
- Students will be engaged in high-interest activities
- Students will discuss, investigate, create, and discover with their peers.
The success of the program will be students engaging in age-appropriate science discoveries with their peers through discussion and collaboration. Science concepts will transfer to additional learning expeditions taught in our standard curriculum. These science packs will make planning and preparation easy since the materials and lessons will all be provided by Mystery Science each month.
These science packs will be utilized on Friday afternoons during our Enrichment block. This will give students an opportunity to participate in a fun Friday afternoon activity that will promote discussions at home with family members.
This kit has enough materials for all 24 students in my classroom for one year.
This grant would not be covered by our school budget. A grant from our PTC could be utilized on a limited basis.
