Description

I am writing this grant to hopefully fund a class set of Boogie Board Re-Write Max tablets. ReWrite Max tablets are large reusable lcd writing tablets that are an upgraded replacement for traditional classroom whiteboards.

Benefits of Program

Every student in my classroom will be able to benefit from these new tablets. I am hoping to get a full class set for next year.

Success of Program

Success of this grant would be defined as enhancing student engagement and participation with new writing tools. Traditional student whiteboards require dry erase markers which are expensive, dry out quickly, and often get lost. They can also be a bit messy with students using hands to erase or needing small erasers or wipes, and the surfaces wear out over time. The ReWrite tablets can be used with the included stylus or even just a finger nail making the constant purchase of dry erase markers a thing of the past. They can also be erased with a push of a button or the screen can be locked to save work for a time. The only part that will need to be replaced from time to time is a small battery that will last for several years. These tablets also have a blank template which is great for math or a lined template that can help with neat handwriting. They also have the ability to remove the template completely and place it over a worksheet, allowing the student to do practice work with any worksheet as the background.

Implementation

Once funded the tablets will be used in my classroom as a daily tool with my students. We will be able to stop the continuous buying of dry erase markers. If they prove to be a useful tool in my classroom other classes might look into purchasing these in the future.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

Yes, I will be able to share this with my grade level team. Each class can take a turn at using the new tablets to see how they integrate into the classroom. We also switch students among our classes during the day for a few subjects and these tool can be used with any group of students in my classroom.

Sustainability
This grant should be fully sustainable. Once the tablets are purchased they should last for many years and will not need to be replaced and there are no consumable parts that need to be purchased. However, if other classes like the tablets and want to use them in the future, the school may seek additional funding to buy additional class sets.
