This grant will provide funding for a classroom library that supports global citizenship. The books have been carefully curated by Cal Global Ed, Global Book Bags and myself. The books support the design and development of thematic units grounded in global education. Grounding for the themes are based on the Heritage Months (Hispanic Heritage, Black History, Arab, Women's History, API/DESI, LGBTQ+, Disability, and Native American), as well as, environmental education, and diverse global celebrations.
Global citizenship tasks students and teachers with building their competencies in three domains: Investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, and take action. The goals are to build capacity and develop empathy, spark curiosity, learn how to communicate ideas, build a deeper culture of community, and further develop as global citizens.
