By incorporating the Shurley English supplemental program, students will have a deeper understanding of the foundations of grammar concepts. This knowledge will transfer to all other curricular areas as they incorporate their new-found skills elsewhere.

Students' higher scores in assessments will prove the increase in knowledge. Also, the engagement in grammar will resonante through our sixth graders as they sing their way through verbs, pronouns, and prepositional pharses.
Once the textbooks are recieved, the other sixth grade classes could begin using the Shurley methods immediately. If it isn't possible for this school year, we would have the remainder of 2012-13 to incoporate Shurley in our PLCs for future planning.
Currently, there is a huge frustration level with our 6th grade ELA PLC due to the fact that we do not have a grammar program. This is especially vexing when a new teacher comes aboard. Additionally, it is exciting for my district-wide PLC to become aware of the Shurley program as the program is already correlated to the Common Core Standards.
