Support effective direct instruction through use of instructional space.
When the physical classroom supports student learning, we see an increase in learning. Instructional rugs help support learning by assisting students in academic behavior on 'their spot' during direct instruction. Instructional rugs delineate space for each student, and support focus on instruction. The goal of direct instruction is that at least 80% of the class master new learnign the first teach, which is why this time and support is so important.
Student grouping for direct instruction and class maeetings happens every day, throughout the day. The instructional rugs will be used every day, many times (and these rugs will be in the classrooms for years to come).
All grade levels collaborate around direct instruction, and the use of instructional rugs supports effective teaching strategies.
