At each school we continue to have students that are struggling with math and are significantly below grade level and do not have access to appropriate interventions. The TouchMath curriculum is a standards-based, multisensory step- by-step approach that provides students with disabilities as well as other struggling learners the opportunity to understand and overcome math barriers. TouchMath’s research continues to validate the fundamental principles of the TouchMath system and points to improved math comprehension and mastery. This program is unique because it provides students with a simple, straightforward, and reliable system that is immediately accessible in their minds. The materials are organized by topic so busy teachers have the flexibility to pick and choose specific skills that need to be retaught. Training is free and an easy way to learn the benefits, teaching strategies, and product uses associated with the TouchMath Program.
Math barriers begin in elementary school. Without remediation, students continue to struggle through life. As students age, it becomes crucial that they have a simple, straightforward, and reliable system. TouchMath is that system. Critically acclaimed for its ability to get remedial students back on track, this multisensory step-by-step approach provides struggling learners the opportunity to understand and overcome previous barriers. The goal is to provide concrete and pictorial experiences to ensure a firm foundation in each of the units topics. The TouchMath Program makes math fun and accessible for struggling learners while addressing a wide variety of student needs. Hands-on experiences related to real life are an integral part of each lesson. When students complete each unit they will have a basic, useable skill set they can apply immediately in practical, everyday jobs. Each unit’s simplicity is guided with tactile to visual to abstract activities while carefully introducing and integrating more complex concepts. Students will become inspired by success-driven confidence and real-life applicability. As a result of the TouchMath Program, math instruction becomes easier and clearer, and students become successful and confident.
Research has found that multisensory, systematic math instruction help students who struggle with math related concepts. The TouchMath Program is based on this math research and is research validated.
Success is to become a confident learner while learning the fundamentals of math related concepts in a fun and engaging manner. It provides students with tactile and visual learning while connecting ideas to real-life scenarios, making learning more meaningful and motivating. This program will provide students with disabilities as well as other struggling learners a chance to access an appropriate intervention that would otherwise not be available.
The TouchMath Program is designed to be taught one-on-one, in a small group setting, or whole class setting. The program can be implemented in a Special Education environment or supplemented in a general education classroom targeting students in need of math remediation. This program could also be implemented in classrooms that have paraprofessional support or consistent parent support. Finally, to ensure effective and consistent implementation, training videos and tutorials are provided and can be watched online.
Yes. This program will provide Special Education teachers and paraprofessionals with another tool to use for students that struggle with math and are not responding to other methods. As struggling students begin to improve their math skills, they are more likely to access the core curriculum which also ties into our participation in our Special Ed PLC’s and our site grade level PLC.
